Rex Cheng graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) with a degree in Chinese Dance. and he joined DanceArt HK as a full-time dancer. Currently, he works as a guest teacher at the HKAPA, and as a freelance dance artist and tutor of Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates. He also acquired the Level 2 certificate of the Chinese Wushu Duan Wei System.

He has been performing in a lot of local and overseas dance as well as musical performances, including Human Internship by Justyne Li and The Rite of Spring by Dick Wong.

His recent choreography includes No.36, To Tear Up, To Gear Down, Bingo?!, On/Off?, The Butcher, Solitary, La Double Vie, Enlightenment, and The Key, etc., among which Solitary was awarded the Outstanding Small Venue Production in the Hong Kong Dance Awards 2018.

Besides, Rex is actively involved in cultural arts exchange programmes, conducting a master class at the World Dance Alliance Global Summit in Canada and a contemporary Chinese Dance workshop for Scottish Ballet. He was also a visiting artist in PAMS (Performance Arts Market – Seoul).
