Theatre Connection

The Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connection (AFTEC) is a bilingual Learning Theatre™ and non-profit arts organisation dedicated to nurturing the next generation of youth. We believe in the power of arts to inspire, motivate and transform, using an integrated arts-in-education approach to enhance education and encourage learning. Established in 2008 as a registered charity, we have reached over 232,525 audience members and participants through our diverse programmes to date, and have been the Venue Partner of the Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre under the LCSD Venue Partnership Scheme since 2009.

AFTEC was selected as a top 10 high impact NGO in the PwC Community Mentoring Programme on social impact assessment in 2015, recipient of HK Arts Development Council’s Award for Arts Education 2014 & 2017, and is a two-time recipient of the Springboard Grant under the Arts Capacity Development Funding Scheme of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. AFTEC pioneered Relaxed Theatre & the performing arts module of Medical Humanities developing STEAM as a teaching & learning approach.

Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde

Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde is a re-imagined theatre production directed by Dr Vicki Ooi based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. This story portrays how every individual has a duality of both benevolent and malevolent personalities, thoughts and feelings within them.

This production also shows the destruction that can be wrought when ambition goes unchecked by moral constraints and conscience, as well as a debate on how our personalities and moral compasses were shaped.

Grimm Adventures – A Reimagination of Grimm’s Fairy Tales

Can Super Red Riding Hood, leader of the Forest Fists work together with Wolf, Thumbling and the Little Tailor to defeat evil? Will Hansel and Gretel be saved from the Witch and find their way back home? Co-directed by Dr Vicki Ooi and Donna Berlin from London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, join these superheroes in our fun-filled and imaginative adaptation of The Brothers Grimm’s Fairytales. This story is highly thought-provoking for very curious young audiences.
