Lungs
In our current connected world, we are overwhelmed by global crises and burdened with endless social, political, and environmental issues. The human race is greatly inflicted but there is no one to blame but ourselves.
English playwright Duncan Macmillan places an anonymous young couple in the centre of this whirlpool and drives them into a lifelong conversation starting with the most ordinary yet most precarious idea – the idea of having a baby in this world. From a highly personal perspective, the 2011 play exposes the situation of all people deeply entangled with the double-edged globalisation, and their struggle between the reproductive instinct and the responsibility for the environment. The play received the Winner of Best New Play at the Off West End Awards and the CBS Outstanding Drama Award.
