The Nonsensemakers is an independent professional drama company in Hong Kong. Registered as a charity organization in 2009, the troupe has presented over 100 productions and won an array of accolades from Hong Kong Drama Awards
Recent productions include Academy of Laughter , The Notebook trilogy, Travel with Mum, The Open Couple and Love Letters
Travel With Mum has been invited to participate in various arts festivals including China Zhongshan Culture and Arts Centre Drama Festival, China Shanghai International Arts Festival, Singapore Huayi Chinese Festival of Arts, Malaysia DPAC Arts Festival, Canada Pacific Festival and Taipei Kuandu Arts Festival
In 2013, set up “Hand in Hand Capable Theatre”(HIH), a pioneering project that aims to foster mutual understanding among people with different abilities (including people with visual impairment, hearing difficulty, physical handicap, people formerly with mentally illness, and able-bodied people) through theatre arts. Based on the HIH project, the troupe received Award of Arts Education (Non-School Division), Hong Kong Arts Development Awards (2016), affirming its commitment to inclusive education. Receives three-year funding from Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust in 2016 to continue the project
Travel With Mum
Based on a true story, a beautiful tale show through drama, mask, movement and live band performance.
A 74-year-old man builds a tricycle and brings his 99-year-old mother on a journey across China, in order to fulfill his mum’s wish to see the beauty of the world.
Starting at the northernmost part of China, they go on a 900-day journey that spans over 30,000 kilometers. As they ride on, he discovers that staying by his mum’s side is the greatest reward he can give to both of them.
