Born in China, Mao was awarded full scholarship and graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (Contemporary Dance and Choreography)
Works including Thorny Road, Shelf Life, Pardon, Mapping, site-specific performances Natural Person and No where is home were featured in different arts festivals including Wiz World Dance Festival (Seoul), Macau Modern Dance festival, RAM Dance Festival (Hong Kong, Taipei and Japan), Hong Kong Arts Festival 2015 and 2016, and the 27th Macau Arts Festival
Loves to collaborate with different artists from genres outside dance, including visual art artist and composers. With live music in his work, Mao seeks greater possibilities in his work with different arts forms
