Ko Yun-hung is a third-generation Cantonese Opera artist, the youngest son of seasoned famous Cantonese Opera percussion leader master Ko Kun. As apprentice of famous xiao master Liu Sum, Ko is now a musician proficient in various Chinese musical instruments and music theory.
Ko become percussion leader at the young age of fourteen, and later advanced to the position of ensemble leader. He is currently Director of The Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong, deputy Managing Director of Hong Kong Po Fook Tong Cantonese Opera Musicians’ Association and Deputy Chairman of Cantonese Opera Musicians and Vocalist Association. He is also the co-founder of Hong Kong Xiqu Association, Hong Kong Xiqu Troupe and Grand Xiqu.
The Legendary Bond
Li Jing, a general Emperor Taizong of Tang, falls in love with Hong Funu. They met “Dragon Beard Man” Qiu Ranke and formed the “Three Heroes”. The relationships between brother and sister, husband and wife, monarch and minister interweaved and formed a touching episode in history.
Ko Yun-hung is the music designer of this play, and wrote several original Cantonese Opera songs as well as re-arranged traditional ones.
